Dr. Wahlig joined the practice in 2004.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Yale University in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, Dr. John B. Wahlig, Jr., earned his Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. On completion of a seven-year residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, he practiced on Long Island as a member of South Shore Brain & Spine Specialists. Prior to joining Neurosurgery and Spine Associates, Dr. Wahlig was an attending surgeon at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. Dr. Wahlig has a particular interest in traumatic, metastatic and degenerative spine pathology and has received specialized training in complex spine and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Wahlig is active in several professional societies and has authored numerous papers published in various scientific journals.
