A five-year old Iraqi girl will soon be coming to Maine to receive treatment at Maine Medical Center under the care of Dr. James Wilson, the only fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon in the state of Maine.
This little girl was injured in Iraq and she sustained shattered bones and a ruptured cerebral membrane. After four surgeries in Iraq, she needs a prosthetic replacement for skull bone and plastic surgery. James Wilson, MD and Maine Medical Center (and Ronald McDonald House) are offering services at no cost.
Dr. Wilson shared with online reporter Dieter Bradbury, “Skull reconstruction and related plastic surgery goes hand in hand with operating on the brain. Noora’s procedure will be especially challenging because she has already undergone several surgeries…..
This child is extremely unfortunate and I’d like to do what I can to help her along in her life.”
